Indian man kills expectant wife over 'unintended pregnancy'

Ghaziabad police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested a man for killing his pregnant wife, Hindustan Times reported.

Shop proprietor Rajiv Poddar stabbed Sanjana on August 19 after she conceived for the fourth time, police said.  City I Circle Officer Manisha Singh said 35-year-old Poddar had dumped his 30-year-old wife's body in a drain after killing her. The father-of-three killed his wife as he did not want another child.



According to Singh, Poddar "packed the body in a gunny bag and drove his two-wheeler to Crossings Republik. There, he threw the body in a drain."

He then reported her missing. Suspecting foul play, the woman's family lodged an FIR against him.  The 30-year-old woman's body was recovered on August 25, police said.



Poddar has confessed. “The post-mortem examination has not clearly indicated that the woman was pregnant. The column related to internal organs has been left blank in the report," Singh said. She added that police will verify the pregnancy with a supplementary report.
