PPP weakening opposition by fielding Aitzaz: NP chief

Hasil Bizenjo says will support opposition parties in presidential election

QUETTA: National Party (NP) Chairman and former federal minister Hasil Bizenjo wants the joint opposition to win the presidential elections, saying the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) should review its decision of fielding Aitzaz Ahsan as their presidential candidate.

In a recent statement, the NP chairman said that his party sought to strengthen democracy in the country. “We won’t be part of any undemocratic move. After the election, all parties vowed to join hands for making a strong opposition but the PPP is deliberately weakening the opposition parties by fielding Ahsan as its separate presidential candidate.”



Bizenjo said, “PPP’s move has shaken the joint opposition parties.”
Citing prime minister election, the former federal minister said, “During PM elections, all opposition parties announced support for Shehbaz Sharif, including the PPP, but for the presidential election, the PPP has sidelined itself which is not a good omen for democracy.
“Not just contest, but opposition parties must win the presidential election because they have reiterated to unveil the blatant rigging in the general elections.”



Bizenjo vowed to utilise all efforts in helping the opposition candidate win the presidential election.

On last general elections held on July 25, Bizenjo said, “The polls were the worst in the history of Pakistan where hidden forces broke all records of rigging. Today NP is out of parliament, but our roots still exist in the hearts of the people of Balochistan.”
