An assistant sub-inspector who was beaten up with a weapon butt on Saturday, inside district and sessions court premises died at Chandka Hospital Casualty.

Sikander Sonu, aged 50,  was a resident of Nasirabad and was posted at Pakho police station. His son, Habib Sonu, told newspersons that his father and other cops faced murder charges for killing a young man, Irfan Rind. Rind reportedly died after a failed one-wheeling stunt, six months back. The deceased’s father had arrived for the hearing of the case, he added.

He further alleged that relatives of Irfan Rind, including Mola Dad Rind, along with his four other associates, attacked his father and beat him up severely . He appealed to IGP Sindh, DIGP and SSP Larkana to order a thorough inquiry into the incident and provide him justice. PPI
