Two minors killed in Lahore, mother injured as roof caves in

Rescue and police teams shift the victims to a nearby hospital

LAHORE: Two minor children were killed while their mother was injured in an incident of roof collapse in Cungi Amar Sadhu on Saturday morning.

Police said the victims identified as Samran Adnan, 7, Chahat Adnan, 9 and their mother Chanda Adnan, 30 were in their house in a single storey-building when all of a sudden it caved in. the victims were trapped inside.

After hearing the screams and the thud of the explosion, nearby people called the rescue teams. Rescue and police teams rushed to the spot. They removed the debris and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital for treatment where doctors pronounced Samran and Chahat dead. While, their mother Chanda was admitted for treatment. She had suffered severe injuries including a fractured leg.

According to initial investigations, the accident occurred because the building was in a dilapidated condition. However, further investigations would help ascertain the real cause behind the tragedy.

In another accident in the city, at least 13 passengers were injured when a bus collided with a water tanker near Kot Abdul Malik New Toll Plaza Sheikhupura Road. The accident occurred when a speedy bus rammed into a water tanker and overturned. Resultantly, 13 passengers including women were injured.

After the incident nearby people called the rescue teams and were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Minor girl among five dead

Meanwhile, the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 1,460 road traffic crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these RTCs 12 people died, whereas 1,674 were injured. Out of the injured 597 were severely injured requiring shifting to different hospitals. Whereas, 1,077 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by the medical teams.
