Prisoners celebrate Eidul Azha

Inmates at the Karachi Central Jail and District Jail Malir had a good time on Eid

KARACHI: Eid is a joyous occasion for all Muslims and celebrated with zeal and fervour every year. Everyone partakes in the festivities, including the inmates at Karachi's jails who made the most out of the Eid celebrations and enjoyed the festival in unique fashion.

Inmates at the Karachi Central Jail and District Jail Malir had a good time on Eid despite being away from their families. The prisoners offered Eid prayers at the jail mosques. Several officers, including the superintendent and deputy superintendents Ziaur Rehman, Abdul Khaliq and Shahab Siddiqui embraced and felicitated the prisoners following the prayers. Sweets and desserts were also distributed while gifts and other accessories were presented to the inmates.

On the request of some prisoners, Eidi was also distributed. The prisoners entertained themselves with the festivities and rejoiced with the jail communities. They enjoyed a hearty meal as special beef and mutton dishes were served to them.
The juvenile prisoners at Karachi Central Jail offered Eid prayers in new clothes distributed by the jail authorities. "The jail staff has taken a big step by remembering us at the joyful occasion," one inmate said. He said that the authorities had won the hearts of the prsioners by sharing happy moments and gifts with them.
