LAHORE: In his message issued on Tuesday, on the eve of Eidul Azha, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar congratulated the nation of both the joyous occasions of Eidul Azha and what he called “the dawn of a new Pakistan”.

In his message issued on the eve of Eidul Azha, Buzdar said serving the hapless and indigent segments was the real message of Eid and we should always remember those who have had sacrificed their lives for the defense of the country.

“The Eid is a religious festival of sacrifice, love and affection and the religion of Islam has sensitised its followers to include the penurious families in their happiness. Sharing our joys and happiness with the impecunious strata is the real philosophy of Eid festival and we are ethically bound to share our happiness with the disfranchised segments of the society,” the chief minister said.

“It is our collective responsibility to share the Eid joys with the families of martyrs because the immortal sacrifices of those who had sacrificed their lives in war against terrorism cannot be forgotten. We pay our rich tributes to the sacrifices of our martyrs on this occasion of Eid and show solidarity with their families,” he said.

Addressing the meeting participants, the chief minister said the rule of law would be ensured at every level and made it clear that anything in violation of law would not be tolerated by him. “If I ever direct for any unlawful doing then it should not be abided by,” he remarked.

“We should also make a commitment to serve the ailing humanity on this happy occasion and this day also requires that we should promote the passions of love and affection by forgetting our differences, concluded the chief minister.”

Earlier, on Tuesday, Buzdar presided over a meeting at his office, in which overall law and order situation and security arrangements for Eidul Azha were reviewed in detail.

The chief minister said he would personally visit every division and district to review the performance of the public sector departments at the grassroots level. Buzdar directed the authorities concerned that fool-proof arrangements should be ensured to protect the life and property of the people on the eve of Eid. “Practical steps should be taken to stop the scourge of one wheeling and any lip service would not help anymore. I will provide full support to improve the police system,” he said.

He also directed the authorities to ensure best arrangements of cleanliness on the occasion of Eid and added that solid waste management companies, provincial administration and other relevant agencies should proactively work in this regard.
