Parts of K-P engulfed in Eidul Azha spirit

Most clerics believe Eid should be celebrated with Saudi Arabia

SHABQADAR: Eidul Azha was celebrated on Tuesday in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) tribal districts in accordance with Saudi Arabia.

The festivity was celebrated partially in most parts of Mohmand and Bajaur agencies, Waziristan and other districts of the northern province. While the official commencement of Eid with the federal government will be celebrated across the country on Wednesday.

In these districts, Eid is celebrated with the K-P mosque called Qasim Ali Khan with a moon sighting committee or with the Saudi Arabian calendar. Most clerics in the region believe that Eid is directly related to Hajj and they celebrate it on the same day.



In the upper Mohmand and Baizai subdivision, Eid was celebrated today, but inhabitants of the lower subdivision will celebrate it on Wednesday. In Nawagai and Utman Khel, Eid is celebrated with KSA, while in Salarzai, the celebration will be tomorrow.

In almost all of K-P's lower districts, Eid will be celebrated on Wednesday with the rest of the country, Afghan refugees camps in Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshehra and Swabi including other Southern districts celebrated Eid according to the Afghan calendar. The refugees slaughtered their sacrifices while prayers were offered in the camps' mosques.

They share the spirit of Eid by distributing the meat of the sacrifice among their fellow Pakistani brothers living near the camps.
