QUETTA: On one hand the Balochistan government has been claiming to fight for its rights with the federal government, while on the other the Quetta Development Authority’s (QDA) contract employees have not been paid their five-month salary.
Against the non-payment of salaries, QDA Employees Union along with the unpaid workers held a protest demonstration in front of the Quetta Press Club (QPC), demanding they be paid before Eidul Azha.
The protesters announced that if they were not paid their salaries before Eid, they would launch a protest movement by setting up a camp outside the QPC after Eid holidays – which means they would be protesting on a daily basis.

Non-Payment Of Salaries: PHA faces shortage of funds

They said that the QDA DG was making an excuse of the National Accountability Bureau inquiry and committing economic murder of the poor families, while the NAB inquiry had nothing to do with it.
“Illegal allotment of land worth millions of rupees is taking place at QDA, which is against the law,” they said. “The QDA DG is paying millions of rupees to the contractor, while there is no cheque power to pay the poor.”
