Elderly man martyred in Indian firing along LoC
Pakistan Armed Forces respond effectively to the incident of unprovoked firing, says ISPR
An elderly man was martyred on Saturday in unprovoked firing by Indian troops along the Line of Control's (LoC) Danna sector, said a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
"Zulfiqar, a 65-years-old civilian in Mouji village embraced shahadat. Indian post undertaking fire targeted in response by Pakistan Army troops," said the army's media wing.
Measures to protect LoC population demanded
Pakistan Army responded effectively and decisively to the Indian aggression and targetted the Indian post attacking civilian targets.
Earlier, a senior United Nations official urged India and Pakistan to address their ‘outstanding issues’ through peaceful means, reiterating Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ concern over the growing tensions along the LoC in the disputed Kashmir region.
UN chief concerned over growing LoC tensions
UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Miroslav Jenca made the remarks during his talks with top Pakistani officials during a visit to Pakistan that ended earlier this year, according to a statement issued by UN spokesperson’s office.
“Jenca reiterated that the Secretary-General is concerned about the heightening tensions along the Line of Control between India and Pakistan, the statement said, adding, “He echoed the Secretary General’s calls for maximum restraint and efforts to de-escalate the situation.”
