DERA GHAZI KHAN: A teenage girl, who had fled a shelter home, was manhandled by the male staffers on Jam Pur Road in Dera Ghazi Khan on Thursday.
She is a resident of Kohlu, Balochistan and arrived in Dera Ghazi Khan around 15 days ago.
On Wednesday, at a police picket, she was asked for some legal documents which she did not possess. Later, she was arrested and sent to Model Town B police station. The same day police produced her before the area magistrate, who sent her to Darul Aman.
However, when she fled the shelter home on Thursday morning, the staff dragged her back to the facility from Khayaban-e-Sarwar in Thana Gadai area.
The girl’s family kept searching for her in Balochistan while she was being kept at Darul Aman in DG Khan. Police said a man nominated in her kidnaping case was also arrested in Kohlu three days ago.
Upon receiving the information of girl being at the DG Khan shelter home, the family also arrived there and with the lawyer’s facilitation submitted a plea regarding the custody of the girl on which the court on Thursday summoned R*, along with the shelter home administrator.
However, the girl managed to flee the shelter home before the staff followed and caught her near Dasti Bridge, opposite Khayaban-e-Sarwar.
Since there was no lady police with them, R* started shouting and said she did not want to go with them at any cost. Police said she also levelled allegations against the Darul Aman staff, claiming she was raped at the facility.
Subsequently, the court handed her over to the family.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar Bhatti has taken notice of the incident and appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner Mian Iqbal Mazhar and assistant commissioner as investigation officers and summoned the report at the earliest.
The probe team, later, arrived at the shelter home and recorded statements of the staff members in question. The report will be presented to the deputy commissioner on Friday.
