Girl allegedly blackmailed, raped by CDA officials for accompanying boy in park

Prime suspect arrested, other two still at large

ISLAMABAD: In a shocking incident in the heart of the federal capital, a young woman was allegedly blackmailed and sexually assaulted by officials of Capital Development Authority (CDA) in broad daylight inside a public park last week.

According to the victim, she was visiting the Fatima Jinnah Pak, also known as F-9 Park, in the afternoon of August 2 along with a boy. Soon after the two entered the park from its gate number 2, a man who said he was from the CDA, approached them and asked her what she was doing in a park with a boy. The official in order to pressure the couple said he would take them to the police.

The girl says she told the man that she had done nothing wrong and that he can call the police if he wanted to. The official also threatened to summon the parents of the girl to the police station. Thinking they might be doing this for money, the boy paid the CDA officials Rs2,000 after which he told to leave the park.

They separated the couple, telling the boy to leave from one gate and they would escort the girl out from the other.

The girl says after that the three CDA officials, one of whom was a guard, took her to a side where one of them sexually assaulted her. She cried for help but the other two did nothing. Afterwards, the official left the girl at a nearby metro station and threatened her to not tell anybody or else she would be killed.

The victim says it took her a few days to come out of the shock and finally decided to approach the Margalla Police on Monday and submitted an application against the culprits.

In her application, the victim said she was bringing the matter on record so that no other woman falls prey to these criminals and they are taken to task for their crime.

Prime suspect arrested

Police late on Tuesday arrested the prime suspect, who allegedly sexually assaulted the girl on August 2. The suspect is a gardener in CDA.

Further raids are under way to arrest the other two who facilitated the assault.

Burhan Rana | 5 years ago | Reply I explained further about that criminals i also see them to harasse someone in last of this july in the parks but that time i understand they are the officials and the both girl and boy are wrong that is why i ignore thwm, but that i was wrong. They charge the money of couples and also rape in ruteen.
