25 model agriculture markets on cards in Punjab

LAHORE: In order to provide quality food items, an approval has been given to set up 25 model agriculture markets in the province, said Special Secretary Agriculture (Marketing) Ehsaan Bhutta on Thursday. Speaking at a meeting held on Thursday, he said fruit and vegetable markets of Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, DG Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, Burewala, Dina, Talagang, Depalpur, Pakpattan, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Samndari, Chiniot, Kacha (Lahore), Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Bardana Market Khanewal, Sargodha, Chichawatni and Piplan would be changed into a structure of model markets within one month. Quality cleanliness measures would be taken in these markets besides making complete arrangements to counter dengue and fruit-fly. According to the spokesman of the department, markets would be kept free from illegal encroachments while market fee schedule, commission and daily rates of essential items would be displayed at proper places in the markets.
