KARACHI:
Police on Wednesday registered an FIR against over 30 workers  affiliated with various student organisations for attacking two Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPAs.

Police said the incident had transpired at Karachi University. An FIR was registered at Mobina Town police station following a complaint by PTI MPA Arsalan Taj. The lawmaker has won elections from PS-102.

Taj and Adeel Ahmed, the other PTI MPA, were travelling in a vehicle when it was attacked by dozens of Imamia Student Organisation, Islami Jamiat-e-Taliba and Peoples Student Federation activists. The lawmakers were attacked as they left the varsity after meeting the vice chancellor, according to the complaint.

Taj said  the men raised slogans against the PTI and pelted stones at the vehicle. He also said some armed men had tortured them.

SHO Abdul Ghaffar said an FIR had been registered and a probe was underway. He said no arrests had been made in connection with the case yet.

The incident came days after PTI MPA Imran Ali Shah attacked  a citizen near National Stadium in Karachi. The party drew flak on social media after the incident. A show cause notice was later issued to the MPA. While Shah tendered an apology, the party suspended his membership for one month.
