KARACHI:

A video of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) newly-elected member of the Sindh Assembly Imran Ali Shah thrashing a citizen in the middle of the road near National Stadium in Karachi has been doing the rounds on social media.

Some online users claimed that Shah thrashed the local man who tried to cross his vehicle. It is also believed that his guards also abused the man.

Be grateful for the slap, you could have been shot too, Jibran Nasir quotes protocol officer

The party's Karachi President Shamim Naqvi has taken notice of the incident and also issued the PTI leader a show cause notice to explain his actions within 24 hours.

It states that if he fails to explain his act disciplinary action would be taken against him.

The statement reads that the PTI finds such behaviour by an MPA is unacceptable.

Shah's clarification

The lawmaker spoke out in a video message by saying that while waiting at the road's signal two motorists began quarreling.

Subsequently, he said that he got off his car to resolve the issue, however, one of the motorists began abusing him and pushed him.

As a result, he pushed back in retaliation from where things escalated.

Shah apologised for his actions and said that the viral video does not show the motorist verbally abusing and pushing him.

In view of the incident local police have taken legal action against Shah as well.
