For years, people have been subjected to sexual harassment - falling prey to hands of their loved ones, their peers or even a random stranger walking on the street. In the wake of the #MeToo campaign, women across the world have shared their painful experiences of sexual harassment and accused the predators openly. This time around, local artist Hania Aamir was assaulted by people claiming to be her "fans".

Celebrities are not immune to sexual harassment. Many big guns such as Salma Hayek, Lena Headey and Angelina Jolie amongst many others have called out Harvey Weinstein of rape and sexual misconduct. Likewise, Meesha Shafi also accused famed singer Ali Zafar of harassment on multiple occasions. Now, Hania who is known for film Janaan has come clean about her recent experience.

Hania also questioned how some people can claim to to be fans if they cause discomfort and embarrassment, leaving the victims traumatised.

She explained, "We step out of our comfort zone to be with our fans but acts like these force us to reconsider and doubt our decision to go out in the public."

The 21-year-old actor added that nothing can justify the objectification and harassment of an individual.

Hania continued, "It's sad that despite the country's progression, women are still an object of desire for some. It's because of such individuals that women are scared to step out of their homes, not work and live their lives in fear."

The Parwaaz Hai Junoon star also requested for people to respect women. In conclusion, Hania stated that if people ever find her verbally abusing someone else publicly, it will be while she's "putting a disgusting man in his place".

CountryCircus | 5 years ago | Reply Women do not want to cover them as it is against their freedom, while the man cannot lower their gaze as it is not manly. But both are seeking respect form opposite gender.
AJ | 5 years ago | Reply Amazed at how she is portraying herself as the victim who has to cope with the fans. Without these fans, you would not be relevant. It is a wake-up call for the people who worship these false idols and try to imitate their fake lifestyle.
