Patient’s Death: Doctor hurt while running from relatives

A panicked doctor at Civil hospital tripped and hurt himself while attempting to get away from angry relatives.

KARACHI: A panicked doctor at Civil hospital tripped and hurt himself while attempting to get away from the relatives of a road traffic accident patient who died while being moved from the neurology to the orthopaedics ward. It is not clear whether the relatives attacked the doctor, or whether he got spooked when they got upset. Recently, the issue of doctors being attacked by angry relatives has created a sense of insecurity. The matter has been taken up by the Pakistan Medical Association that is seeking legislation in the matter. It issued a statement on the case. It was not clear if negligence was involved.
