Bollywood films often have the presence of a psychotic antagonist that helps to add more flavour to the storyline. While the famous names usually take the lead as the hero, many big guns such as Heath Ledger, Amrish Puri and Ashutosh Rana from Janwaar have outperformed their own selves. Similarly, Jim Sarbh who has often played negative characters, now wants his career to take a turn. According to The Indian Express, the actor is tired of essaying roles that do not care about other people.

"When I played these roles, they were the only ones that were offered to me. However, now I have the liberty to be a lot more selective. I am a little bored of playing negative characters. I want to now look at meaty, complicated roles. I am not interested in one-sided characters,” Sarbh revealed.

Sarbh added that playing Malik Kafur in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat earned him a lot of success. He also mentioned that working with the ace film-maker has helped him hone his acting skills. The Neerja actor added, "Sanjay has a very keen eye for detailing. It’s all about making a beautiful frame and filling that frame with equally detailed, subtle and nuanced acting.
