Under Water: 4 children drown after canal breach

Four children of a family died from drowning in Khanpur on Friday.

KHANPUR: Four children of a family died from drowning in Khanpur on Friday. According to recue officials, the children were killed after water flowed out of a breach in Manchin Canal near Pakalaran, some 30 kilometres from central Khanpur. The deceased included Farhan, 8, M Siddique ,10, Fahim, 10 and Sawan, 12. Several other houses and fields were also submerged due to the 25 foot-wide breach in the canal. The Irrigation Department has filled the breach after 10 hours of working in the area. The department is also assessing the overall damages and sending a report in this regard to the head office.
