KARACHI: The Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) President Nadeem Omar has announced that five pacers will be sent to England for training and development purposes in the near future.

Umar disclosed the development in an exclusive interview with Daily Express, where he expressed his concerns over the lack of fast-bowling talent in the city at present.

“We are worried about the lack of pacers coming from Karachi and we’ve planned to hold a camp for the fast-bowlers under the supervision of former pacer Jalaluddin,” said Omar. “Top five performers from that camp will be sent to England for further training and development. We are also planning to have same kind of camps for the batsmen and spinners in the futures as well.”

Talking about the development and maintenance of the stadiums in the city, Omar revealed interesting plans ahead.

“We plan to install floodlights in the training area in all of the six stadiums which come under KCCA,” he said. “We believe that will help players in training at night as well. Also, we plan to overhaul the KCCA stadium completely which will increase the capacity for the spectators. We plan to have a dedicated area where people can sit on the grass and watch the match just like spectators watch it in New Zealand and Australia. For that, the government will provide us with the funding.”

He added: “We also want to have a clock like Lords alongside bell, museum and library. For that, we will collect funds on our own. We are in discussion with some sponsors for that matter as well. I am very optimistic that sooner rather than later, KCCA will start hosting first-class matches.”
