MARDAN: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Human Rights has taken notice of torture and murder of a minor girl in Takht Bhai village.

He has sought a report from SHO and DPO Mardan, directing them to take immediate action.

The minor had been missing for a few days before her body was recovered from the fields. The body was shifted to Mardan Medical Complex for autopsy and forensic tests.

Terming the incident as a breach of most fundamental and basic  rights of life of the victim, Haseena, the letter cited Section 10(6) of the Promotion, Protection and Enforcement of Human Rights Act, 2014 which bounds every relevant agency, organisation or authority to assist the directorate and provide requisite information for investigation in the human rights violation.

Previously, DPO Captain Wahid Mehmood told The Express Tribune that a special team had been formed to probe the incident. He added that the victim’s family will be appraised with the progress on a daily basis.

The minor girl’s father also demanded police and judiciary to catch the culprits and give them exemplary punishments to ensure such crimes were not committed.
