KARACHI: A South district and sessions judge cancelled on Wednesday the interim bail of three security officers of City Courts. The officers were accused of criminal negligence in the City Courts malkhana fire case.

The three suspects, however, fled the court premises and could not be arrested as the investigation officer was not present.

The three suspects were Muhammad Shakil Mirza, the incharge of District South at malkhana, Abdul Sattar Gopand, the incharge of District East and Ali Marri, the incharge of District Central. They were accused of negligence in the investigations of the fire at the malkhana in April this year that destroyed case properties.

The three suspects had earlier obtained interim bail. They requested the court to extend it. The prosecution objected to their plea and argued that because of their negligence, case properties of several cases were reduced to ashes. The judge cancelled their bail, however, the suspects could not be detained.

The three incharges are, however, only accused of negligence. The investigation has come to the conclusion that the fire was a criminal act and it was intentionally caused. However, those who caused the fire are still unidentified.
