ISLAMABAD: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrest of all suspects involved in the reported rape of a girl in Islamabad's F-9 park last week.

Law-enforcement opened an investigation into the case after the victim approached the authorities on August 6 and stated in her complaint that employees of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) were involved in the assault and rape.

Police officials claimed the arrests and said the prime suspect was identified as Sheraz Kiani, who is a gardener with the CDA while the other three were identified as Umar, Murad and Abdullah, the latter two being security guards also employed by the CDA. Police added that the accused have confessed to the crime.

The victim had stated that four CDA officials had blackmailed, extorted and raped her after she visited the park accompanied by a young man.

She claimed that she had visited the park during afternoon hours and three to four men claiming to be CDA officials cornered the couple and blackmailed them.

The CDA employees then proceeded to pressurise and threaten the couple and said they would take them to the police and also inform their families. The employees were paid Rs2,000 by the couple and were told by the CDA employees to exit through separate exits. The girl was then taken to a corner and was sexually assaulted by one of the men.

After the assault, the accused threatened to kill her if she reached out to anyone and then fled the crime scene, running for a nearby metro station.
