The potential of universities to effectively contribute to the development of Pakistan’s economy and society is a key priority for higher education policymakers lately.

To this end, the British Council under its ‘Inspire’ programme held a roundtable discussion on ‘Knowledge Exchange’ along with Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Islamabad on Friday.

The ‘Inspire’ network enables collaboration between universities, businesses, communities and other organisations for social and economic benefit, said a press release issued by the British Council. Major stakeholders were invited to take part in the discussion, with key areas of collaboration identified and discussed, such as mapping, brokerage and leadership.

Participants shared success stories of knowledge-exchange between universities and businesses and also pointed out issues that are in the way of more meaningful exchanges.
