Five MQM-L 'target killers' nabbed

They were allegedly involved in around six targeted killings

KARACHI: District Central police claimed on Saturday to have arrested at least five suspects belonging to a political party who were allegedly involved in about half-a-dozen cases of targeted killings, including that of a policeman.

The suspects, according to the police, were involved in various targeted killings in District Central between 2012 and 2015. They were identified as Kamran alias Pager, Arif alias Chilly, Irfan Naseem, Imran Naseem and Aurangzeb Ali alias Munna.

The arrests were disclosed during a press conference held by Central SSP Irfan Baloch. The SSP disclosed that the suspects were arrested after the police conducted a raid at the APWA College ground in Federal B Area on a tip-off.

The suspects were affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London, said SSP Baloch, adding that they killed a police constable, Mushtaq, posted to the Paposh Nagar police station, along with other people in the Nazimabad and Paposh areas.

The police also claimed to have seized at least five pistols from their possession. Cases were registered against them, while further investigation is under way.
