MULTAN:

Nine students were injured after two student groups clashed in the Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) on Friday.

The injured students were shifted to the hospital. According to the injured students, the Islami Jamiat Talaba submitted an application three days ago stating that Hamza Hall’s room 83 police guard, official Hussain was caught drinking alcohol. According to the students, the administration did not take any action in this regard even after they filed a complaint against him.

“They told us they had received the complaint but would take the matter into consideration,” said Pakistan Student Federation (PSF) vice secretary Alam Shahzad. PSF students decided to stand by the administrations decision and keep the matter quiet, but word got out and the Jamiat students gathered outside the gates. A violent clash was witnessed between PSF students and Jamiat students near the main gate of the university. During the quarrel Jamiat members were severely injured. The accused guard has been suspended and several PSF students have also been suspended in this regard.
