KARACHI: Music in Pakistani films hasn't really been up to the mark of late. Although many big films such as Azaadi, Jackpot, Wajood, Motorcycle Girl and Na Band Na Baraati have released this year, their songs failed to gain much traction. Only a handful of tracks from Cake and Yunhi Raste Mein from 7 Din Mohabbat In did managed to deliver.

There's no such thing as overexposure in showbiz, says Fahad Mustafa

We're now gearing up for Eidul Azha releases with star-studded casts, such as Parwaaz Hai Junoon, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 and Load Wedding.

After Actor in Law, Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat will be reuniting again for Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza Load Wedding. While the trailer was loved by many, the film just released its first track Rangeya - proving that there's still hope for Pakistani music after all.

Sung by Mulazim Hussain and Missal Zaidi, Rangeya has been beautifully penned by Shani Arshad. Not only does the song portray passionate poetry but also fares well music-wise. It starts off with tunes that resemble Bollywood love songs of the 90s but 30 seconds into the track, listeners get some true Pakistani flavour.

Shot on breathtaking locations within the country, the video does hint visuals similar to those of Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai from Rab Ne Banadi Jodi. It also shows Fahad in an avatar that takes inspiration from Shah Rukh Khan's character in the same film. Mehwish stuns in eastern-wear, much like Anushka Sharma did in her debut film opposite King Khan.

Rangeya is a love song that not only features perfect lyrics and vocals but also brings out the instruments used in creating the music. Could this be the next it song for the winter wedding season? Only time will tell. For now, treat yourselves to the heart-touching tune of Rangeya and pray that future tracks from Load Wedding or even other films prove to be as good as this one.
