Facilitating students, IBCC office shifts to Gulshan-e-Iqbal
The federally-authorised body grants local equivalence certifications for O Level and A Level examinations
KARACHI:
The Sindh government has decided to shift the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) office by next month to Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The federally-authorised body grants local equivalence certifications for O Level and A Level examinations conducted by the Cambridge International Examination (CIE).
Earlier, the IBCC office was working in a makeshift room in the premises of the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi in North Nazimabad since 14 years. The new IBCC office will be set up at the premises of the Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE) in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The arrangement was made after IBCC and SBTE signed a contract on Monday. According to the agreement, the IBCC office will be shifted to SBTE premises after August 14.

In addition to O and A level examinations, the new IBCC office will also grant equivalence certifications for all matriculation and intermediate education boards of Sindh. The new facility will relieve thousands of matriculation and intermediate students from the hassle of visiting remotely located offices near Karachi's Kati Pahari, a neighbourhood notoriously famous for ethnic clashes. In addition to distance, many students frequently complained about mobile snatching incidents in and around the neighbourhood.
As per the contract signed between IBCC Secretary Hussain Ahmed Madni and SBTE Chairperson Dr Masroor Shaikh, the new office at Gulshan-e-Iqbal will be operational from next month. SBTE has rented out a portion of its premises for an initial period of three years, but the tenure may be extended for another three years with the mutual consent of both institutions.
IBCC Deputy Director Ejaz Ahsan, IBCC Assistant Secretary Muneeb Javed and Karachi Inter Board Chairperson Prof Inaam Ahmed also attended the event.
