The data of service record of186, 148 gazetted and non-gazetted employees of the Punjab Police has been computerised, which will help in decision making for modern policing.

On the direction of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Syed Kaleem Imam, provision of necessary information regarding career profile of officers and officials to senior police officers has been made possible with one click of a button.

This step would strengthen merit system policy and ensure appointments of able, adequate and well reputed officers. Computerised data system titled 'Human Resource Management Information System' would contain records from constable to IG about their documents, basic information, education, departmental training, promotions, demotions, punishment and rewards, vacation, sports, departmental actions, medical and psychological records.

The IG Punjab could see the service record of any officer, official, whereas this would diminished the role of establishment branch in transfer, posting, and with other issues of the force. This process would also prevent the appointment of officers and officials on the same place for long.
