ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said the government is taking all possible measures to enhance the capacity of the national grid and increase power generation. The effective policies of the government have helped reduce the energy shortage to a large extent, he added. He declared that the government is holding the second energy summit to take all the stakeholders onboard and formulate an energy conservation strategy for the summer. The prime minister said this while talking to Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar, who called on him here at the Prime Minister House on Thursday. PM Gilani asked the minister to formulate policies to motivate foreign and local investors to invest in the energy sector. He maintained that Pakistan’s potential for renewable energy resources is immense and needs to be explored at the earliest in order to meet the growing energy demand.
