PESHAWAR:

A driver was killed and two others sustained critical wounds when three oil tankers, carrying fuel for Nato forces stationed in Afghanistan, had a head-on collision near the Azakhel area in Nowshera district on Thursday.

The oil tankers bound for Afghanistan met with an accident in the Azakhel area as a result of tyre-burst on GT Road.

All three tankers caught fire due to the intense heat and were completely destroyed. One of the drivers, Ijaz, a resident of Karachi, died on the spot while the two other were critically injured.

After the incident, rescue teams and the police rushed to the accident site and moved the injured to Nowshera hospital, where they were said to be out of danger. The police have registered a case and started an investigation.
