Commodities: Utility stores cut prices

ISLAMABAD: The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has announced reduction of up to 5.38 per cent in prices of 133 different commodities at its chain of outlets across the country. The reduction in prices came in the wake of directives from Senior Federal Minister for Industries and Defence Production Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi, who along with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid President Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain visited USC head office on Thursday. The price of gram pulse has been reduced from Rs66 to Rs64 per kg, masoor pulse from Rs92 to Rs85 per kg, masoor (whole) from Rs82 to Rs75 per kg, moong pulse from Rs144 to Rs138 per kg, mash pulse from Rs132 to Rs120 per kg and black gram from Rs65 to Rs60 per kg. Prices of cooking oil, milk, soap and shampoo have also been slashed in the range of Rs5 to Rs13. USC has also been asked to cut flour price by Rs20 per 20kg bag.
