LAHORE:
Renowned Pakistani singer Humera Arshad, who has been based in Lahore for the last 25 years, recently opened up about her future plans. The Hasda Hasda crooner has been in the news several times, primarly because of issues related to her marriage with model Ahmed Butt. Due to problems in her personal life, Humera’s singing career was on a standstill for quite some time.

However, she has now decided to put her past behind her and will be resuming work with a bang. Talking to The Express Tribune, Humera revealed she will be making a comeback with Coke Studio season 11. “This will be the beginning of a new phase for me in my singing career. Besides this, I am sure that I will be able to surprise music lovers.”

The Dilbar Dil Ke singer shared, “I consider myself very lucky because I will be making my appearance on Coke Studio for the second time.  It’s a blessing that I have gotten another opportunity to sing on such a big platform.” However, she refused to spill more details about the project. “All I can say is that my fans will see a new chapter in my career. Post Coke Studio, I am hoping to continue to produce music of similar, if not the same style.”

Interestingly, the revival of Lollywood will see the revival of Humera’s playback singing career too. And boy, are we excited! “This year, my songs will be a part of many films. I am currently at the negotiation stage and am hoping for the best. In the past, I have sung for films but had to stop because of the crisis in the film industry. Although I was disappointed, there was not much I could really do.”

Expressing her satisfaction with the changing dynamics in the entertainment spectacle, the songstress added, “We never had a shortage of talent in Pakistan. We have always had a lot of capable people. However, there has always been a lack of opportunities and platforms for newcomers. When there are no platforms like Coke Studio, it’s hard for these personalities to show off their flair and so, their talent goes to waste too.”

The Husn Ko Chand star continued, “Coke Studio did a wonderful job at boosting the careers of many such artists. Nonetheless, that’s not to say that there aren’t still many people within our nation who are not provided with similar opportunities and thus, are not able to perform at such studios.” On a parting note, Humera hopes that one day, our artistic youth will have the ability to showcase their various talents. But for that to happen, there need to be ample amounts of platforms available.
