‘Caretaker govt has fulfilled its promise’

Caretaker CM says millions of people exercised their right to vote on Election Day

LAHORE: “The Caretaker government has fulfilled its promise of holding free, fair and impartial elections in a peaceful manner,” said Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Dr Hasan Askari.

He expressed these views in a statement issued on Thursday.

'Caretaker setup is an extension of PPP govt'

Millions of people exercised their right to vote, while the caretaker government has fulfilled the responsibility of holding transparent and impartial elections. That is the reason people have expressed complete confidence in the foolproof arrangements made for elections, the statement read.

Askari also congratulated the administration and the police for making the best possible arrangements. He appreciated the performance of the army and the Rangers who extended full support to the Punjab government on polling day.

“I am thankful to the army and the Rangers who helped to maintain law and order, along with the Punjab government, police and other law enforcement agencies. No doubt, it was a collective responsibility which was performed properly. The performance of the army, Rangers, police, the administration and other agencies remained up to the mark,” the statement added.

The law and order situation remained under control due to the effective measures in place by the Punjab government. Citizens also showed discipline on Election Day for which they deserve to be congratulated, he stated.

Moreover, the Caretaker government provided voters with all the opportunities to practice their democratic right. We have also proven our neutrality through our performance. The provincial administration, police, the army, Rangers and other agencies have rendered their services for holding peaceful elections.

Line department also put their best foot forward. The Punjab administration provided voters with every possible facility while security agencies performed their duties professionally. We pay tribute to those who have extended cooperation in holding transparent and peaceful elections. Their contributions will be remembered, he articulated.

‘Interim govt will fulfil responsibility’

The people of Punjab have proven to be conscientious human beings through peaceful elections. They have proven their attachment with democracy. Due to collective efforts, we have succeeded in holding peaceful and transparent elections, he concluded.
