Nation reacts to election results – some celebrate, others disappointed

People of Pakistan went to the polls to cast their vote on Wednesday with social media quick to react to the events of the day.

The results garnered a mixed reaction with some parties lauding the results while others claimed that these were rigged.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) spokesperson Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor thanked the nation by saying that the world has witnessed the love and respect citizens "unflinching support" for the armed forces.

He went on to say that "their [the army's] lives are dedicated to Pakistanis" and concluded with "Pakistan wins".



While other cried foul over transparency of the polls with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari saying that it is past midnight and he had not received any official results from any constituency he was running from.

ECP rejects political parties' claim of 'rigging' on election day

The scion of the Bhutto family's political dynasty said that "his party candidates are complaining that polling agents have been thrown out of polling stations across the country. Inexcusable and outrageous".




Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Faisal Sabzwari claimed that "results from NA-253 were withheld and manipulated" and termed it "a conspiracy".



Pakistan Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid said that "today is a victory for the Pakistan".

PML-N president Shehbaz Sharf said that his party rejects the election results owing to the clear irregularities.

Shehbaz termed the result as "unbearable and unacceptable".
