ABBOTTABAD: Almost a thousand illegal water connections were severed in Abbottabad as the local sanitation authority presses ahead with its campaign.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Water and Sanitation Authority (Wasa) of Abbottabad said that it had disconnected 915 illegal water connections in the city during its ongoing campaign.

It asserted that the campaign against illegal connections, which started three months ago, will continue until all illegal connections are removed or those who have not paid their dues, settle their accounts.

Interestingly, Wasa noted that there were some prominent political and well-known personalities of the Abbottabad district who have not paid their bills and that their lines were disconnected. While it did not name precisely whose connections were severed, it added that all will be treated the same without regard for their party affiliation.
