QUETTA: Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Balochistan President Senator Usman Khan Kakar has urged the people of the country to oust powerful forces with the power of their vote, saying democratic powers are going to fight undemocratic forces attempting to hijack general elections on July 25.

Addressing a news conference at the Quetta Press Club, Senator Kakar refuted speculations regarding PkMAP’s election cell at the Governor House.

He said, “PkMAP believes in democratic practices and follows all election rules and regulations.

“Undemocratic powers have been playing a devastating game to hijack the elections that will never be in favour of this country. On July 25, people of the country should defeat these undemocratic forces through the power of ballot.”

On impartiality of the Election Commission of Pakistan, Kakar said, “The honourable parliamentarians, through legislation, made ECP a powerful and impartial institution to hold free and fair elections in the country.

“Unfortunately in Islamabad and Punjab, 17,000 cases had been lodged against democratic powers, while in Gulistan, Chaman and Mezai Adda, private militias are attempting to fuel unrest, but people are aware of all moves being committed against democratic politicians.”

An independent candidate for PB-28, Mirza Shamshad Ahmed, has withdrawn his nomination papers in favour of PkMAP candidate Farooq Khilji.
