LAHORE:
Around 25,000 thousand books, from the personal collection of four individuals, have been added to the Punjab University (PU) library. The books are from the personal libraries of late Dr Aftab Asghar, late Muhammad Aalam Mukhtar-e-Haq, PU Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani and Dr Syed Muhammad Akram Ikram. The books consist of very precious, rare and valuable manuscripts and journals, said the chief librarian. The collections of Muhammad Aalam Mukhtar-e-Haq and Dr Aftab Asghar are a treasure trove of volumes on mysticism, history and literature. By being the largest and oldest library in Pakistan we not only satisfy people’s intellectual and scholarly thirst, but also contribute towards developing their reading habits, Usmani added.
