Punjab IGP orders induction of 609 reserves
Directes authorities concerned to ensure the deployment is made by July 22

Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam has issued directions to appoint 609 police reserves comprising of 14,000 officials of Punjab Constabulary Farooqabad and Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) for security duties during elections.
He directed authorities concerned to ensure the deployment is made by July 22. He asked all DPOs to send the report to Central Police Officer (CPO) Lahore of the deployment.
Police gears up as terror threat looms
Approximately 41 reserves will be deployed in Kasur, 62 in Sialkot, 10 in Narowal, 13 in Attock, 13 in Jhelum, 17 in Sahiwal, 45 in Sargodha, five in Khushab, four in Mianwali, 10 in Bhakar, 29 in Faisalabad, two in Jhang, 43 in Toba Tek Singh, six in Lodhran, 49 in Khanewal, 27 in Vehari, 32 in Chakwal, 12 in Okara, four in Dera Ghazi Khan, 50 in Muzaffargarh, seven in Layyah and 24 in Rawalpindi.
The total deployment will include 1,945 trained and 2,300 untrained officials of Punjab Constabulary (PC), 200 officials of investigations police personnel, 7,000 of PHP personnel, 406 of Police College Sihala, 329 from Police Training College Chung, 245 from Police Training School Farooqabad, 245 from Police Training College Multan, 211 from Police Training College Sargodha and 156 from Police Training School Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, the IGP issued an order to put security on high alert to counter the plans of terrorists, extremists and anti-social elements in the province ahead of general elections. In his letter to CCPO Lahore along with RPOs, DPOs, and CPOs, IGP Punjab has ordered all the officers to expedite the search, sweep and intelligence based combing operations in all the districts of the province.

He also directed officials to install mobile checkpost under the supervision of circle officers in sensitive areas on a daily basis and to increase patrolling hours of Dolphin, PRU and other patrolling forces in the areas where election campaigns are at their peak.
According to the letter, IGP Punjab further ordered to ensure the implementation of the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He directed officials to take prompt action against those who violate the ECP code of conduct.
