Bollywood veteran, Rishi Kapoor, known for his powerful views on Muslims and Pakistani, will next be seen in Anubhav Sinha's Mulk, which also stars budding starlet Taapsee Pannu.

The film tackles religious discrimination in India, and its protagonsit Pannu has already shared her thoughts on the storyline.

After Pannu's remarks on the treatment on Muslims in India, many have labelled the film as pro-Muslim, saying it has been funded by Daud Ibrahim.

Sinha, who is being accused of running a propaganda to garner support and sympathy for Muslims through his film has hit out at trolls, saying Mulk has not been funded by anyone and neither is it about Hindus or Muslims.

In a Twitter post on Monday, the film-maker articulated his thoughts about the negative comments that he has been receiving against Mulk, a courtroom drama about restoring the honour of a Muslim family accused of treason.

Sinha slammed trolls for how they are “lost under heaps and heaps of hate posts."

He explained, "Mulk. No it is not funded by Dawood Ibrahim. You can ask him. Not even Congress. You can ask Rahul (Gandhi). Not even the RSS. You can check with Mohan Bhagwatji. It is funded by Mr Deepak Mukut and his father Kamal Mukut, a veteran in this business."

Sinha added, “No... Every post of mine is not about Mulk. We are spending crores of rupees promoting the film, we spent even more making it. These tweets are just a very minor part of the campaign and like I said, we do have a life," he further wrote. "And a voice, so outside of our work, we do talk."

He said reading posts from trolls makes him smile.“Sometimes you do end up hurting us but mostly not because we know it is not your voice. In fact, it is not even you. It is just your fingers and your eyes being grossly underutilised by your masters. It is your master’s instructions and we don't give a damn about them," the post read.

Sinha took the opportunity also to promote his film. “Mulk is a very nice film. It is not doing what you think it is doing. It is not about  your masters. Hindus or Muslims. It is about you and it his about me and mostly it is about us," he concluded.

In the film, Pannu plays a lawyer who is determined to clear her client’s name from treason allegation because she believes he’s being targeted because of his religion. When asked about this happening in real life, the Soorma actor said, she finds it disturbing.

"I’ll give you an example from my own life. My manager is a Muslim, my driver, my house help are Muslims. If I were to feel disturbed in their presence, then I would be disturbed whole day and night because my life is run by them," she said. "It’s very disturbing to realise that a particular religion is being targeted."
