LAHORE: Rescue 1122’s patient transfer service (PTS) has shifted 0.3 million patients in critical condition, from primary healthcare facilities to specialised healthcare facilities since February 2017, stated Rescue 1122 Director General Rizwan Naseer. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of rescue officials at the emergency services headquarters. The service has proven to a blessing for patients in critical condition, especially those in rural areas across the province. The responsibility of initiating this service was given to us by the then chief minister Shehbaz Sharif which we accepted as a challenge, he added. In addition to recruiting emergency staff, we also received about 500 ambulances from the Punjab health department, he maintained. PTS has also enhanced the operational efficiency of the service, helping to overcome challenges associated with shifting patients in critical condition, he articulated. By providing immediate transportation free-of-cost, the service has significantly improved safety amongst citizens, he added.
