K-P govt officials pledge to donate three-day salaries for dams

Earlier, armed forces and CJP also donated funds for construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams

PESHAWAR: The donations for Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams is picking up pace as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government officials join the Supreme Court and armed forces in contributing to funds.

The K-P government has announced to contribute their three-day salary to the fund for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

CJP donates Rs1m, directs govt to immediately construct two dams

On Monday, the armed forces had announced that officers and men will contribute to the fund earmarked for the construction of the dams. Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor said officers of the army, navy and air force will donate two-day pay for the cause while soldiers will pitch in with a day’s salary.

Earlier this week, the country’s top court directed authorities to immediately start construction of the two dams and appealed to the people, including overseas Pakistanis, to make a contribution for executing the projects. During the same hearing, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar also donated Rs1 million.

According to a notification issued by the Finance Division on Friday, contributions to the fund will be received at all branches of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), all treasuries and branches of National Bank of Pakistan and other scheduled banks.

The fund will receive donations from both domestic and international donors as well as contributions from abroad which will be received at all branches of the above banks where such branches exist.
