PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan and Qaumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao have been challenged in their native district Charsadda by PTI newcomers for July 25 General Elections.

Asfandyar Wali, a seasoned politician and chief of ANP is facing Fazal Mohammad Khan of PTI who stood runner-up in the last general election.

Anti-democratic steps to be resisted, says ANP's Asfandyar Wali Khan

PTI has given tickets to three former turncoat MPAs from Charssada including Fazal Shakoor Khan (PK59), Sultan Muhammad Khan (PK-58) and Khalid Khan Mohmand (PK 56) as they quit JUI-F and QWP respectively. The joining of former three lawmakers would benefit Fazal Muhammad Khan.

On NA 23 Charsadda-I, QWP Chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has been challenged by MMA’s Zafar Ali Khan, PTI’s Anwar Taj and ANP’s Gulzar Ahmed.

Sherpao has won this constituency since 1988 but withdrawal of papers by JI’s Sirajul Haq would benefit MMA candidate Zafar Ali Khan.
