Thousands appear for UET entrance tests across K-P

Tests held simultaneously in six cities across the province

PESHAWAR: Over 15,000 candidates appeared for the entrance test of University of Engineering and Technology in Peshawar and in five other cities of the province simultaneously on Sunday.

Entrance Test for the academic session of 2018-19 was held at the Islamia College ground in Peshawar, the University of Haripur in Abbottabad, University of Malakand and Jehanzeb College in Swat, Cadet College in Kohat, Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan, and at the Gomal Medical College in Dera Ismail Khan.

The test was conducted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government’s own Educational Testing and Evaluating Agency (ETEA).

Around 15,859 candidates from K-P, areas of the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan appeared in the entrance tests. Of all the candidates appearing for the test, only 778 were women while the rest, 15,082 candidates, were men.



The results of the test are expected to be announced on Monday, July 9, on ETEA’s website (www.etea.edu.pk). The result will also be displayed on UET’s main notice board. University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain, who witnessed the entrance tests, expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements.

He explained that due to the large number of students who were appearing for the test, they had to increase the number of testing centres apart from holding in different cities of the province in order to provide candidates with comfortable environment close to their homes.

At the Islamia College ground in Peshawar, as many as 6,317 candidates appeared for the test.  Of these, 6,002 candidates were seeking admission in engineering disciplines, while 315 candidates appeared for the Computer Science group. At the University of Haripur in Abbottabad, of the 1,972 candidates who appeared for the test, 1,904 candidates were seeking admission to the engineering group while the remaining 68 candidates were appearing for admission in the computer science group.

In Swat, 1,557 candidates appeared in the test with 1,516 candidates seeking admission to engineering disciplines, and 41 candidates appeared for the Computer Science group.

In Mardan, 2,077 candidates appeared in the test with 2,017 seeking admission to engineering disciplines, while 60 were hopeful of gaining admission in CS.

At the Cadet College Kohat, 1,350 students appeared in the test, with 1,303 hoping to secure admission in engineering disciplines while the remaining 47 hoping to get into CS.

At the Malakand test centre, 1,128 candidates appeared in the test with 1,091 for engineering group and 37 for CS.

At the Gomal Medical College in DI Khan, 1,458 candidates appeared in the test, with 1,410 candidates seeking admission to engineering disciplines, and 48 candidates seeking admission to Computer Science.
