A New Delhi businessman was arrested Friday evening for the alleged rape of an 18-year-old friend of his daughter, Hindustan Times reported.
The businessman, 45, is a resident of The Belaire in DLF 5 and has lived in Gurugram, south of New Delhi, for eight years, police said. He is accused of raping the young woman when she visited his rented high-end apartment for a sleepover on Thursday.
The businessman's daughter studies abroad and had returned to India for a holiday. She had invited her school friend to her home for a sleepover, according to police.

The businessman was arrested within three hours after a rape complaint was lodged against him. According to KK Rao, commissioner of police, the accused has confessed to the crime and will appear before a court.
According to the station house officer at the women's police station Poonam Hooda the complainant and her mother came to the police station at noon on Friday. They lodged a formal rape complaint against the accused.
“She has complained that her friend’s father raped her in his bedroom,” Poonam stated.
A case has been registered under sections 376, 506, and 328 for the respective charges of rape, criminal intimidation, and causing hurt by means of poison.

According to the victim’s statement, the accused took the two friends to Cyber Hub in Gurugram for dinner and drinks. According to police, his wife was out of town that night.
“The victim has told us that he was sloshed when they returned home,” stated Hooda.
The victim was sleeping next to her friend when the accused came in to the bedroom and asked her to come outside to talk. The accused then allegedly pulled the victim into his own bedroom.
“He locked the room and raped her. He also threatened her not to share the incident with anyone,” Hooda has said.
According to police, the victim woke her friend immediately after the incident. They attempted to wake her father but he was unconscious. The young women left the apartment at 10am and went to the victim's home, where the victim told her mother.
Hooda stated that the victim had been visiting her friend's home since she was in school. The young women had studied at a well-reputed private school in Gurugram.
