ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will take strict action against those involved in parking their vehicles on footpaths.

The footpaths are meant for walking on, these are for people to walk on and not meant for parking vehicles, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed explained to the Pakistani people.

For parking there are designated areas where a large square sign with a P is affixed, he tried to teach some senses to the public that remains in habit of parking at will.

SSP Rasheed while reviewing arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city, directed SP (Traffic) and all Zonal DSPs to ensure implementation of traffic laws and take action against those involved in creating problems for traffic discipline in the city.

The SSP (Traffic) said that it is the right of pedestrian to use footpath and no parking would be allowed there. He said that vehicles should be parked at lots specified at shopping centres while awareness campaign should be launched to educate those citizens coming for shopping activities there.

He assigned special responsibilities to Inspector Majid in this regard so that traffic discipline can be ensured.

“It is our top priority to ensure convenience for road users by maintaining traffic discipline and every possible effort will be made for the purpose,” SSP (Traffic) Rasheed.
