In the wake of the #MeToo campaign, many women have come forward to share their horrific sexual harassment incidents blaming big guns from the entertainment industry. Earlier, Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein was accused of behaving inappropriately with numerous women and is currently under going trial. Likewise, Bollywood has had it's fair share of harassment cases.

In recent news, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty's son has been accused of rape and cheating. According to NDTV, a Delhi court has registered an FIR against Mahaakshay Chakraborty and his mother Yogita Bali.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Esha Gauba said that there was sufficient evidence to register an FIR against the two so that the court can go ahead with the law proceedings.

A woman came forth blaming the mother-son duo. Requesting anonymity, she alleged that Mahaakshay promised to marry her but cheated on her and raped her instead. She continued that when she got pregnant, Mahaakshay gave her a medicine that led to an abortion.

In her complaint, the accuser also stated that Yogita threatened her of dire consequences if she continued her relationship with Mahaakshay. The woman also told the court that she moved to Delhi from Mumbai because she was afraid that the threats made by Yogita and her son could take her life.

Taking her complaints seriously, the court said that police investigation was necessary as the case involves Mithun's family - a celebrity with a highly influential status. The court added that according to the country's laws and regulations, an FIR needs to be lodged for all rape cases, be it a common man or a high-profile name.
