Six security personnel martyred in Awaran rocket attack

Security forces have launched a search operation

At least six security personnel were martyred and two others injured on Monday evening in a rocket attack by unidentified armed men in Awaran district.

Official sources told The Express Tribune that a bomb disposal team
was searching the Kure area, located 30 kilometres from Tehsil Mashkay area of Awaran, when unidentified armed men fired a rocket from the nearby mountains that landed and exploded near the team.

As result of the explosion, six security personnel died on the spot and two others sustained injuries. Security forces rushed to the
site of the attack and threw a cordon around the area.

Bodies and the injured personnel were later shifted to a nearby health facility.

The six martyred security personnel have been identified as Hawaldar Shabbir, Sepoy Sheraz, Sepoy Bashir, Sepoy Sharaj, Sepoy
Allah Nawaz and Sepoy Abid. Two injured include Sepoy Ehsan and
Rashid.

Sources said security forces have launched a search operation to trace the men involved in targeting the bomb disposal team in Awaran district. No further details were provided.

Two civilians, Levies personnel martyred in Quetta gun attack

Last month, three people, including a member of the Balochistan Levies, were martyred after coming under fire from unidentified assailants in the Sariab road area of the provincial capital. The three were returning in a vehicle after offering Eid prayers when they came under attack, said police officials.
