HEC approves additional grant for University of AJK

Construction of Neelum Campus is pending with Federal Planning Commission

MUZAFFARABAD: University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Muhammad Kaleem has called on Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr Tariq Banuri at his office and congratulated him for assuming his new responsibilities.

Dr Banuri reiterated his resolve to enhance the quality of education and promotion of research culture in the universities of the country. The Higher Education Commission executive director told the vice chancellor that an additional grant of Rs10 Million has been approved at the request of the university management.

The VC expressed his profound gratitude to HEC chairman and executive director for approval of the additional grant.

VC expressed hope that the universities in Pakistan would be brought at par with international standards under the dynamic leadership of Dr Tariq Banuri.

He told the HEC chairman that quality education with the promotion of a culture of research and faculty training are two of the priorities that need to be given due attention.

The VC said that Tenure Track Statutes (TTS) Faculty is facing numerous difficulties. “There is a need to resolve these problems on a priority basis,” he said and added that TTS Faculty plays an important role in enhancing the quality of education and culture of research.

He also informed Banuri about the progress on construction work of King Abdullah Campus of the university and expressed his hope that the campus will be completed by March 2019.

He told the HEC chairman that construction of Neelum Campus of UAJK is pending with Federal Planning Commission. Dr Banuri assured that HEC will fully cooperate in acquiring the approval of the project from the Planning Commission.
