RAHIM YAR KHAN: A woman was allegedly beaten by her father and relatives in a court in Rahim Yar Khan on Sunday.

A police official told Express News that R*, a resident of Bahadurpur, had some dispute with her husband Muhammad Akbar a few days ago.

The victim went to her father Ghulam Mustafa’s house and filed a separation case against her husband, he said, adding that she also demanded her husband to provide money for her expenses on her father’s insistence.

However, when R* reached the court for hearing, accompanied by her father and relatives, she requested the judge that she wanted to withdraw the case and wanted to go with her husband. The court granted the woman’s request.

This enraged her father and relatives who started beating her in the court premises. As a result, the woman was injured.  The police have registered a case against accused Ghulam Mustafa and others on complaint of R* and launched an investigation.

Earlier in February, a pregnant woman was tortured by her husband and in-laws after not being able to get money from her parents in Dera Ghazi Khan.
