The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has developed a light-weight wheat thresher by using a reverse engineering process, which will significantly reduce the cost of production. The thresher is also more efficient, as it saves 1.5 litres of fuel per hour.

Speaking at a ceremony at UAF on Monday, Faculty of Agriculture Dean Professor Dr Ashfaq Ahmed said the nation was facing challenges, and paying full attention to agriculture was mandatory in order to expedite the process of development.

Professor Dr Rai Niaz praised the efforts of researchers, urging them to do more in the field of agriculture in order to develop the country. He also urged farmers to adopt modern technology.

Professor Dr M Iqbal briefed participants of the ceremony about the features of the machines, dismissing the idea that heavyweight threshers were more efficient.
